Indian restaurant on Trongate

Charcoals Cafe on Glasgow’s Trongate is the little brother to the more established and multi-award-winning Charcoals on Renfield Street. It is an informal and relaxed, cafe-style venue which serves Indian food in tapas portions. In common with its elder sibling, Charcoals Cafe has a reputation for offering a genuinely warm welcome to guests.

Freshly ground spices in Trongate Indian

Top quality ingredients, prepared to order, flavoured with freshly ground spices is the driving ethos at Charcoals Cafe on the Trongate. The dishes are served tapas-style and three or four dishes between two diners is the recommended starting order.

As well as a selection of starters and main courses cooked in the tandoor oven, Charcoals Cafe has a range of traditional curries available in chicken, lamb, vegetable and prawn versions. The staff pick is the chicken desi which is cooked home-style although there is also strong support for the Bengali fish which is made with a butter sauce.

Attractions & transport links from Trongate

Charcoals Cafe is on the Trongate by the Tron Theatre and within a five minute walk from the Barrowland concert hall. The nearest low level train station is at Argyle Street while Queen Street station is a 10-15 minute walk. There are numerous bus routes on the Trongate and the nearby High Street. There is pay car parking in the nearby Merchant City.
