    Pork Espagnol!

Iberian pork was outstanding ...made a great change from steak.

    Saturday afternoon lunch

We had the 2 course lunch menu at £17.00 pp, my meal of pork fillet had a £3.00 supplement but all in all it was a pleasant experience. Great staff and the meal was faultless - mussels for starter were excellent. It is an expensive meal but it is a unique restaurant. I would go back for a special event ie. birthday or similar.

Modern Spanish restaurant in Merchant City

The Spanish Butcher is on Miller Street in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City. Spanish design and cuisine are riding high at the moment and The Spanish Butcher does both with verve and imagination. Designer lamps, a loft-style dining room split into several sections and an eye-level viewing window into the kitchen make for a theatrical dining space. The service is as deft as the welcome is warm.

Finest Galician beef cooked over charcoal

Taking pride of place on the menu are different cuts of beef from twelve to fourteen-year-old Galician Blond cattle cooked over charcoal. This hearty delicacy is backed by enticing options such as whole monkfish cooked on the bone; authentic, acorn-fed jamon iberico de bellota and grilled octopus.

As well as the a la carte, there is set lunch/pre-theatre menu and a Galician Sunday lunch option. Perhaps the biggest show-stopper at The Spanish Butcher is the whole roasted sucking pig for four to five people. What links all the dishes is the thoughtful combination of traditional and contemporary techniques used plus the beautiful presentation.

Glasgow city centre transport and attractions

The Spanish Butcher is on Miller Street. There is limited on-street parking and ample pay parking on Ingram and Glassford streets. Both Queen Street and Central train stations are within a ten minute walk. Nearby attractions include the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the shopping opportunities of Buchanan and Argyle Street.
